The Summer Camp Golf Program
The golf program at Camp Lohikan is perfect for the serious “want to learn it all” golfer as well as the camper who wants to try golf and learn the fundamentals to enjoy the game. Instruction and recreational play are available every period in the camp’s daily activity program. Everyone who plays is evaluated and receives instruction. In the elective program campers can choose to schedule as much golf as they desire.
To play recreationally, without an instructor, on the camp’s pitch and put course, campers must achieve intermediate skill level status. This includes knowledge of golf fundaments and etiquette.
The program utilizes a six hole pitch and putt course, sand trap, putting green and driving range which are located on the camp grounds. We also utilize a local nine hole course for recreational play and instruction. Golf trips to the local course are optional trips offered to interested golfers. The trip fee is $20.00. The camp provides all of the necessary the golf equipment. Campers who wish to bring their own golf clubs and equipment are permitted to do so.
Golf Instruction Curriculum
Campers will be taught the fundamentals of golf, including grip, stance, balance, rhythm, and set up routine. Emphasis will be placed on the full swing, short game, rules, and etiquette. Scoring, trouble shots, specialty shots, mental preparation, and on course strategy will also be reviewed.
Campers will spend their learning time primarily on the pitch and putt course, driving range, short game area, and on the putting green. The golf program for beginner and intermediate level golfers will focus on learning the basics …the fundamentals of the game. Instruction for advanced level golfers focuses on specific aspects of each golfer's game with the goal of reducing strokes.
